Q: Do you handle local and long-distance moves? A: We specialize in local moves throughout the Capital Region and New York. We are also able to handle moves to the following Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states: Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware, Washington DC, and Maryland. Q: Should I get a visual estimate, or is a phone quote sufficient? A: Whenever possible, we recommend having a visual estimate performed. At the visual estimate appointment, a skilled surveyor will take note of all of the items to be moved and observe the logistical elements involved with your move, therefore ensuring a more accurate estimate. At Marshall & Thompson, Bernie Marshall personally handles every visual estimate. We do not charge a fee for a visual estimate, and there is no obligation to use our services after receiving your estimate. Q: How much notice should I give in order to book my move date? A: This depends on the season in which you are planning to move. If you plan to move during the summer months, it is wise to get your estimates in early spring, and book your date no later than one month before your move. If you are moving during the first or last few days of the month, this is even more imperative. However, if you are moving during the winter, movers tend to be less busy and can therefore accept moves with much less notice. Q: When is final payment expected, and in what form? A: Payment is due C.O.D. upon completion of the move. You may pay by Certified Check, Cashier's Check, Money Order, Cash, or Credit Card. Q: Which credit cards do you accept? A: We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.
